Featured: Amy

Name: Amy Leydman Spotify Location: Sydney, Australia Most memorable mixtape moment: I made a playlist for my friend and she told me that her and her mum were listening to it while painting, which I found to be such a lovely compliment as it functioned as the soundtrack to their creative process.  A song you want people to hear and why: Datura – Cortex. This song explores a magical fusion of analogue jazz-funk! How do you discover new music: I rely on spotify, the jazz programme on eastside radio and the discount section of my local vintage record store to unearth both vintage classics and obscurities.  A song someone has sent you on a mixtape: Start! – The Jam

Featured: Oscar

Name: Oscar Wolfe Tone Byrne Spotify accountLocation: Sydney, Australia Most memorable mixtape moment: When I noticed a girl I’d made a playlist for had changed the name of the playlist and wrote it off as her own creation. A song you want people to hear and why: Waterloo Sunset – The Kinks – It paints a gorgeous picture of a city I love and in my opinion is a viciously underrated song by one of the greatest song writing duos in rock history, Ray and Dave Davies. How do you discover new music: Going to local shows and listening to Orbital Radio and 2SER FM. A song someone has sent you on a mixtape: Broncho – Class Historian Oscar is the cohost of Where is my Mind on Orbital radio and an avid supporter of Sydney’s local live music scene. You can also hear him present the weekly gig guide on community radio station 2SER. His first concert was Arcade Fire at the Enmore when he was ten years old. He is still rueing the day …

Featured: Rose

Name: Rose MorrisonLocation: Gold Coast, Australia Most memorable mixtape moment: My boyfriend (now husband) made me a mixtape when we were first dating years ago, I played 10 seconds of the first song took the tape out and never listened to it again, I just knew I wouldn’t like it. We still have very different tastes in music. A song you want people to hear and why: The Beginning by Ru Paul, I love the lyrics and feel it uplifts me every time I hear it. Also it was produced for the best Season of Drag Race. Ru Paul is my God. How do you discover new music: Normally I don’t as I’ll play the same songs on repeat for years. I’m easily satisfied with what I like. A song someone has sent you on a mixtape: Bubble Butt by Major Lazer

Featured: Bonnie

Name: Bonnie HuangSpotify account:  AccessLocation: Dharug land, Sydney, Australia Most memorable mixtape moment: Sharing and debriefing mixtapes with long distance friend via text. A song you want people to hear and why: Utopia by Chicks on Speed – thought provoking and utterly fun with sprinkling of Mandarin lyrics!  How do you discover new music: Through films (i think Wong Kar Wai and David Lynch built the foundation for my music taste), just browsing on Spotify or stalking other people’s playlists!  A song someone has sent you on a mixtape: DIY by Robots in Disguise …jubilant, truly obsessed, encapsulates my amateur attempts at art perfectly
